Hmmm - solving world problems - death, famine, war - by playing online games!
    Interesting concepts:
Gamers as problem solvers, games as enablers?
Cloud problem solving by evolving the human race by playing games.
Levelling up of the human race IQ by becoming really good at doing the same thing repeatability with guaranteed success.

Complete immersive virtual reality - sounds like we are about to be plugged into the Matrix (or have we already been plugged in and we simply cannot tell the difference?).

isn't so hard to see where it all is going.. yes, we are building The Matrix, our future world.
not that the future world will be virtual, that's plain silly ofc. no, the reality is also becoming more and more "virtual", digitalized, artificial. it is already happening, and the games are only a part of this epic process, the first primitive islands in the sea of our old style "real world" as we are accustomed to understand it.

interpolate the processes and you see for yourself.

printers started out with the matrix (*cough*) printers, that produced collections of black dots on the white paper to represent the letters. as the technology evolved the quality got better, we started using lasers, the color printers appeared, the quality of the image improved.
now we have first models that are capable of "printing" real three-dimensional objects; we already have the technology to create pretty realistic holograms; we are developing the screens that can be directly controlled by the human hand; we are making first steps in establishing the direct link between computers and the human brain... yes, all these toys are still as primitive as our first matrix printers, but that's a start.

if u look at this process, it's suddenly not so hard to see that not only our virtual universes are striving towards becoming more real, our "reality" is also evolving towards the virtual, human-created/controlled, artificial.
it seems the mankind is striving towards something. what is it, ultimately?
apparently, we won't stop until those 2 processes will meet. we are on our way of creating a new environment - half-virtual, half-real... reality.

the most interesting question is - why are we doing this?
it seems it's somehow "programmed" into us, it's hidden somewhere in our (collective) unconsciousness. maybe the ultimate goal of the homo sapiens is to create a world, and become a god (of it)?

but, who knows what else may be hidden there.. we will know the answer once we finally reach it. ;)
