And I agree with you 100% on this!

Otherwise we would have already. Zwarky knows, that when we set up the wiki in the beginning (my first approach with a wiki EVER in my life) - I had no clue what to do. I went to afterwiki to see how it worked out and found out you can actually import and export sites to other wikis. I tried it but didn't really know where they ended up or what I was doing. And as soon as I saw I actully got them into this forums wiki (though not visible), I removed them all again. And I must say, it was a chock to see how easy that was.

I am aware of this 'feature' and this will not be working out in this wiki. Not because it's not possible, but I have much more knowledge about wiki's now than before from working in the EPWiki - and can asure everybody, that it's possible to see if someone makes this stunt or not!

Some things will be similar, which is quite understandable - items are called what items are called and they have the stats items have etc.

For Zwarka [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_General_Public_License"]GNU General Public License - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:Question_book-new.svg" class="image"><img alt="Question book-new.svg" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/99/Question_book-new.svg/50px-Question_book-new.svg.png"@@AMEPARAM@@en/thumb/9/99/Question_book-new.svg/50px-Question_book-new.svg.png[/ame]. Mediawiki is released under that license no one can change that if they are using Mediawiki. The license sticks by using their software.

There is a difference between plagiarizing and taking credit, and giving credit. As posted, there is no intention to just copy and say the work was not from Afterwiki :D

Zwarka, sorry to burst your bubble here, but it's a wiki. Typically, a wiki includes a public domain or GNU license. MediaWiki.com, the software portal you use, on their own website have a link to their license in their footer, which leads to the following page:

    http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/

AfterWiki contains no reference to any license. However, because you ARE using the mediawiki software, it means you must be using one of the following types of license:

    http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Starting_and_Running_a_Wiki_Website/Choosing_a_License

(Note the first part of the page:

    )

Here's a breakdown of the possibilities for you:

    [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_Free_Documentation_License"]GNU Free Documentation License - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:Heckert_GNU_white.svg" class="image"><img alt="Heckert GNU white.svg" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/22/Heckert_GNU_white.svg/160px-Heckert_GNU_white.svg.png"@@AMEPARAM@@commons/thumb/2/22/Heckert_GNU_white.svg/160px-Heckert_GNU_white.svg.png[/ame]. FDL = Free documentation license.
    Creative Commons.
(Seeing AfterWiki has NO specification of any conditions, it CANNOT possibly be licensed under Creative Commons, by the way)

A combination of the two. (See above)

    PD license. (Public Domain).
Here's a screenshot of a fresh wiki installation screen demanding you pick a license structure:

Considering the lack of any license link on AfterWiki, that leads me to believe that the one licensing structure picked was no license, in which case, the whole point you are trying to make here is moot from the getgo. If there is no license, it by definition is not possible for us to break it. (If there is no law prohibiting something, it by nature is LEGAL).

Are you implying that you maybe have a different type of license, that you do not implicitly advertise to your visitors, but yet expect people to know about, and restrict the level of what they can do with the information you expose to them?

If this is in fact the case, I would highly advise you to contact a copyright lawyer to try and figure out how to resolve this issue, where you so far released information without a copyright license anywhere visibly or easily available on your site, but yet thinking you have a right to claim you own the information, because that is not how copyright licenses work.

Once again, we are not trying to just plain rip your information, but will ensure credit is given where credit is due. But hey, you asked for a link. and unfortunately for you, I happen to know how software licensing works.

If I take a look at entropiadirectory,

Just FYI, but a judge would view things in the exact same way. My main reason for giving a breakdown on the licensing of a wiki and the contents in it is merely to point out that when we were accussed of "stealing" information, that was a blatant untruth, and pulled out of thin air, rather than backed by facts.

And Zwarka I jsut want to mention again no one is intending to steal the work of the wiki without saying if it was used. Like today I started an installation section and you can check it is not the same as the other wiki.

I can't figure out how this is happening to this forum. I never saw any game have a community have problems with other communities formed. It's a positive. It means the game is growing. I mean look at how the activity of this forum is growing. I left to come home from college today to see my family. I then log on to see 27 new posts(which is a record for me in not a full days time to see). We should be happy for this. All I can see is so much better for AW and it's future because of people like you guys(team who works on wiki), and Lykke and Admin. Adding in more communities is a huge positive.

Nevertheless, I made the navigation bar ready in the ForumWiki.

Creating sites are much easier now, when the structure is made.

We also installed the Wiki-Gallery again and placed a direct link from the top menu back to the forum site.

I changed the front site ;) And also the 'about AfterWorld'.
I created a table for the societies - feel free to add your own + soc leader - in alphabetic order, please (not sure how to create tables, which automaticly does that).
I also created the beginning of a table under 'mobs'.
If you have any problems or are stuck when helping out with the wiki, feel free to pm me.

    Enjoy ;)

Considering our main "income" of the Google ads is not functional at the moment, I figured I'd bump this thread to provide people with an alternate way to sponsor this forum if they feel so inclined.

    Thanks :)

    Hey Stagger :)
Thanks for the contribution - it is very much appriciated.

About the adds - unfortunately there were some inbetween at a moment, which crashed down the browser - and we removed them. But we will see if the specific adds are gone and hopefully that means we can use google adds on the site again.
